Carbon footprint is calculated in kilograms of CO2 equivalent. This means that all other byproducts that cause our climate emergency, such as methane, are converted into CO2 units based on the effects they cause. For example, 1kg of methane causes the same effects as 25kg of CO2. The final amount can be compared with other activities that cause emissions. For example, an average car releases about 12kg (26.5lbs) of CO2 to drive 100km (60miles).

Grainly package consists of three layers: kraft paper on the outside, naturally compostable film on the inside and a microscopic layer of metal dust in the middle. The kraft paper holds the structure of the package. The naturally compostable film provides a barrier from the outside, that's what keeps the ingredients dry and fresh inside. The microscopic layer of metal dust provides the heat insulation when you make the meal.
